Welcome to spring! A time of new beginnings, new outlooks, new scenery, new growth, new rays of hope, and the buddy potential of a new world.
My article is ironically not new at all! It is from my archives and about the not so obvious Blessings in Disguise that propel us forward into change. I believe as we enter this new season it is important to look at the things in life that we know need changing and really look at stepping into that new reality….
Lately I have been drawn to ponder the people and events in my life that cause me frustration. These are the people or situations that are always pushing my buttons and at times even making my blood do some serious boiling. Shocking I know! But despite your initial reaction to my brutal honesty, I would expect that you too have button pushers in your own life.
The thing is, despite how frustrating these button pushers may make us feel, I truly believe they are blessings in disguise. These beautiful souls and divinely guided moments are not part of our life simply to cause frustration; they are strategically causing us enough frustration to propel us forward out of our comfort zones and into change. Think about it. Have you ever had someone or thing push your buttons so far that it propelled you into that “I’ll show you” attitude or “I deserve better than this” kind of outlook?! I think we all have from time to time.
So why would we need a button pusher to be a part of our life? Sometimes, whether we want to admit to it or not, we find ourselves doing the same old thing day in and day out simply because it is comfortable. We may be dreaming about change, but let’s face it, every now and then we struggle to find the time, resources or energy to put towards that change. And when we finally do decide to put ourselves, our dreams and our well-being on top priority, sometimes we still move forward with hesitation or in small increments simply because we feel safer that way. Which is fine, don’t get me wrong. At least we are moving in the direction of our dreams. However, the concept we need to get our minds wrapped around is that we ARE always safe. Spirit always has our back. And it is the times when perhaps we are not fully believing in this invisible support system or that we are not pushing ourselves into the changes we truly desire that spirit will intervene and send a button pusher to help us take that next leap of faith.
Yup, as if right on cue someone or some situation in our life will add resistance or frustration. Someone or thing that is always challenging our thought processes and perhaps not always supportive in our endeavors. I find these people and events serve a few purposes. First, they help us to become clear on what it is we truly want in life, simply by demonstrating what it is we do not want. Secondly, a button pusher will help us overcome our own fears and insecurities by challenging us to the point of propelling ourselves into action and facing our fears head on.
The interesting thing about these button pushers is that their attitude seems to adjust as we do. So as we start to see the value in our own lives and well-being, the world will (more often then not) see our value too. As we begin to shift our vibration into higher energetic and enlightened beings, so too do the things and people around us. So, it is not to say that these button pushing people or events do not deserve to be in our lives. It is more that we need to honour and respect how much we ourselves deserve to make ourselves priority in our own life. With that shift in our own behaviour, the button pushers in our lives also tend to take on more positive roles and attitudes.
For some of us, these button pushers can do a real number on our emotions. So instead of motivating us forward, they have the opposite affect by depleting our confidence. If this is what you are currently doing, please don’t let yourself play the role of a victim. Instead, take a positive approach to all that is presented to you and use it to implement change; after all, you are in charge of your own world. You and you alone can decide what your outlook will be. Don’t let a button pusher be the reason you don’t move forward. Let them be the reason you do. And not to show them up, but to show yourself that you are worth the change you seek.
Today I give thanks to all the button pushers in my life. I know with all my heart that I would not be where I am today or even have reached such miraculous milestones in my life if it had not been for your (ever so frustrating) way of pushing my buttons. Through your actions, I have pushed myself to create the life I truly desire.
Now here is a novel idea; let us as a society, learn to trust and expect in the universal support system without being pushed. Let us learn to move forward in life with our own well-being a top priority, seeing the value in who we are and what we can offer this world. Move forward with undivided faith in the divine within. No button pushing required 😉
Namaste,
